THIRUVANANTHAPURAM - Noted Hindustani vocalist and music composer Ramesh Narayanan has scripted his name in the Limca Book of Records by singing continuously for 36 hours. The singer from Kerala sang Hindustani classical ragas non-stop for 36 hours and completed a 24-hour raga cycle in a concert conducted at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune last year.

The event, titled ‘Sangeet Samarpan-2013’, was dedicated as a tribute to the legends of music, sources close to Narayan said. It was also envisaged to create awareness on the rich music tradition of the country and the contributions of various legends, they said. The program was jointly organized by Pandit Motiram Narayan Sangeet Vidyalay Mewati Gharana, Maharaja Uthradom Thirunal Marthanda Varma Foundation and Kerala Tourism Department.
Though Narayan began his music career focusing on Carnatic music, he later shifted his attention on classical Hindustani style under the legendary musician Pandit Jasraj of Mewati gharana. He has donned music for quite a number of films and was recognized by the Kerala State Film Awards. (PTI)

Pt. Ramesh Narayan's continuous vocal recital 'Sangeet Samarpan', has won him an entry into the Limca Book of Records 2014.
Panditji sang Hindustani classical ragas continuously for 36 hours and has completed 24 hour raga cycle in accordance to the samay siddhant, at the Film & Television Institute of India, Pune on Jan 19-20, 2013. The audience got a rare opportunity to witness the master musician exploring the depths of Hindustani classical music and perform according to the samay chakra of ragas.
The event 'Sangeet Samarpan - 2013’ was a dedicated tribute to the Param Gurus and legends of the world, and also been successful in introducing young and budding artists from the state of Kerala to the music lovers of Pune and were also able to create awareness about the rich cultural and musical tradition in Kerala and the contribution of all legends and leaders from various fraternities to our lives. This event was jointly organized by Pandit Motiram Narayan Sangeet Vidyalay - Mewati Gharana & Maharaja Uthradom Thirunal Marthanda Varma Foundation, and Kerala Tourism, Department of Tourism, Kerala in association with Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.

As part of promoting Indian classical music, we have organized a Thirteen Hour {13 hour} continuous program on Indian Classical Music, on July 21st, 2013 from 9.00am to 10pm at YMCA HALL Thiruvananthapuram. H. H. Uthradam Thirunal Martanda Varma, Hon. Ministers of State, other dignitaries, renowned musicians from various parts of India and maestros of various art forms will be present for this solemn occasion to offer their encouragement and support to our budding musicians, and would be inaugurated and witnessed by H.H. Uthradam Thirunal Marthand Varma Maharaja himself.
The event will conclude with a five-hour grand finale concert Madhuvanti Sandhya - ‘The Evening Ragas of Mewati Swati Gharana’, featuring well known musicians like Pandit Ramesh Narayan (vocal), Shri. Dear All,
With the blessings of Padmavibhushan Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj ji, Pandit Ramesh Narayan ji, senior disciple of guruji wishes to present 'SANGEET SAMARPAN- 2013', a 36-hour long continuous vocal recital of Hindustani Classical Music in accordance with the samayachakra of ragas, on the 19th and 20th of January, 2013, as part of the celebrations of 100 years of Indian Cinema, at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. He had already achieved international acclaim by rendering a 30-hour long vocal recital of Hindustani Classical Music at the Soorya International Music Festival at Thiruvananthapuram, in the year 1994. 'Sangeet Samarpan 2013' is dedicated to the paramgurus and legends of the past and present, of Indian and world music, as well as other art forms, world literature, science and social reform. It is for the first time in history that an event of such a magnitude is being held for this cause, embodying the spirit and essence of Hindustani Classical Music.

Artists and dignitaries from all over the world are invited to attend this historic event, which would be inaugurated and witnessed by Pt. Jasraj ji himself. Renowned artists like Dr. Yella Venkateshwar Rao, Shri. Hariharan, Shri. Shankar Mahadevan and many other exponents of Indian and world music are expected to be present for this highly anticipated event.

The venue of this marvellous musical fair will be the premises of Shantaram pond, Film and Television Institute Campus, Pune, named after Swargeeya Shri. V. Shantaram ji, the legendary film maker of early Indian cinema, founder of Prabhath Film Company, Pune, a highly revered film personality remembered for his remarkable attempts to bring social awareness through films like "Dr. Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani", "Do Aankhen Barah Haath", "Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baje", etc., and who also had shown great interest in Indian music. It is worth mentioning in this context that today the Film and Television Institute is situated in the former premises of Prabhath Film Company. This venue is of special significance to Pt. Ramesh Narayan ji and his parampoojya guruji Sangeet Martand Pt. Jasraj ji, who is also the son-in-law of Shri. V. Shantaram ji.

A workshop on Hindustani classical music has been organized jointly by "Pandit Motiram Narayan Sangeeth Vidyalay" of 'Mewati Swathi Gharana' and Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust Kerala at Thonnakal Sathyasai village, on 23rd, 24th, 25th in the coming month of December. The maestro 'Pandit Ramesh Narayan' of 'mewati swathi Gharana' will be leading the workshop in ethnic Gurukul style with a team of renowned musicians which includes 'Aditya narayanan Banerjee kolkotta, disciple of tabla legend 'Pandit Swapan Choudhary' , on various fields of the Hindustani classical music. The importance of riyaz (practice) in the morning and evening, 'chilla' and 'taan rendering', time theory of raga rendering etc will be explained in this shibir. Those with passion, curiosity or just an urge for Hindustani Classical can attend this workshop. Certificates will be issued for the same. The workshop which will be held for three days will be absolutely free, providing free accommodation and food facilities' in the Sathyasai village itself.
